Opportunuty
Windham Designs was engaged to develop the brand identity and visual library for Limestone Land Trust, a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to land conservation. Serving as both advocate and trustee for conservation easements in the counties surrounding Louisville, Kentucky—including Bullitt, Hardin, Henry, Nelson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Trimble—Limestone Land Trust required marketing materials that clearly communicated their mission and vision. Our challenge was to forge a trusted, authentic connection with Kentucky’s natural resources in a way that resonated with landowners, while also ensuring the brand conveyed professionalism and credibility to government agencies, legal professionals, and influential property stakeholders.
Solution
Collaborating closely with a dedicated task force of board members and the Executive Director, we created a unified branding and sales package that embodies the organization’s values, vision, and direction. The brand, website, and marketing materials were designed to reflect the region’s unique character and natural wealth. Central to our branding was the white oak tree—a vital hardwood in Kentucky’s forests and a cornerstone in bourbon production. The logo features stylized white oak leaves, cleverly referencing the iconic recycling symbol to subtly reinforce the trust’s commitment to environmental stewardship and conservation.
The website was designed as an educational and advocacy platform, emphasizing the critical importance and lasting benefits of land conservation amid rapid, unregulated development. Engaging stories of successful conservation efforts and compelling visuals were integrated throughout the site to inspire action and promote the organization’s mission. This focused approach not only raised awareness but also contributed to the trust’s rapid growth, enabling Limestone Land Trust to more effectively protect Kentucky’s natural landscapes.
